Sue's March 2005 Review
Warren, Michigan
Here is my show review from the Andiamo Celebrity Showroom - Air
Supply Concert - March 11, 2005.
The day started grey and cloudy with the threat of snow but became
a bright sunny day by the time Dawn and I arrived in Warren Michigan.
The trip was a relaxing 3 1/2 hour drive. (Really, how relaxed
can you be when anticipating a concert with the "Love Gods"?)
We arrived at about 4:30 pm and checked out the location - you
know parking and such. We left and went to have dinner at the
Lonestar restaurant. We changed our clothes in the washroom.
We returned to the Andiamo just before 7:00 pm. Our car was "valet
parked" and we went inside. Our tickets were for "Table
8" and the hostess took us to the table. As we were the first
to arrive at Table 8 we claimed the best seats, right by the stage.
They were on the right - Russell's side - and about 2 feet from
the stage. Most of the people who finally made up our table were
people that we had met at previous Air Supply concerts. We were
all thrilled to be sitting with "true fans." Our friend
Terry from Michigan was at the concert with her friend but was
seated at another table.
Right away we noticed that Jed's keyboard was not where it should
have been. We asked Sparky about it and he told us that the cartage
company had not yet arrived with the keyboard, Jonni's guitar
and some of Mike's drums. They should have been there at 10:00am!!
We were forced to endure an opening act with 2 guys with guitars.
They were really loud and as we were so near the speakers we had
to plug our ears at times!! After they finished, since the instruments
had arrived, the Air Supply crew had to set up the rest of the
equipment and sound check it. It wasn't until about 9:15pm that
Air Supply took the stage.
They opened the show with 2 new songs, "Remember Me"
and "A Little Bit of Everything". I can't wait to hear
them again.
The concert was wonderful!!! Russell has a new black suit with
a black shirt and tie - WOW. He and Graham were awesome. Graham
seemed to jump around more than usual. They had the audience singing
several songs - "2 Less Lonely People", "The One
that You Love" and "All out of Love." They even
complimented us on how good we sang! All in all they performed
16 songs plus "the Boys in the Band" solo (Jed, Jonni
& Mike).
I took lots and lots of pictures.
The show was followed by the usual "Meet and Greet".
It is so nice to be able to see the Boys up close and be able
to tell them how much we enjoyed the show. There were 3 new T-shirts
for sale to celebrate their "30 year Anniversary". We,
of course had to have 2 of them to add to our collection - that's
8 now.
We left the Andiamo at about 12:30am, still excited from such
a great concert. We still had a 3 1/2 hour drive home. We played
Air Supply CD's and sang along. The time seemed to fly by. All
in all a great start to many more concerts this year. They just
keep getting better!!!!!
