MotherSaid's Review:

Onamia, MN Concerts.
Grand Casino Mille Lacs
Feb. 14th, & 15th, 2004

Hi Fellow Airheads,

Valentine's Day with the Love Gods; could there be any better place to be?  I certainly didn't think so.  It was one of the most romantic nights I've ever spent.

As we filed in and took our seats, we could hear the Beatles music playing in the background and a large red and white star lit up the back curtain You could feel the excitment building.  I was in the second row, center with my friends J and B.  This was their first AS concert and  I was so anxious for them to like it.

The houselights dimmed and the stage was dark.  Russell then came walking out singing
'Now & Forever' acapella.  It was so beautiful it took my breath away.  To think that after all these years he can still sing without any accompaniment.  The spotlight  then shown on him and toward the end Graham come out and joined him to finish the song in that beautiful two part harmony they do so well.

Both the Guys looked amazing.  All in black for the first half of the show.  Russell ln a black suit, black satin vest, white shirt and black tie.  Graham in a less formal black suit, tone on tone black vest, black shirt and no tie.
He removed his jacket after a few songs.

They later changed into less formal and more comfortable clothes.  Russell in red stretch velvet pants and a black and white shirt covered in all shapes and sizes of circles.  Kind of retro.   Graham in a flashy multi colored printed shirt and black pants.

Two brand new songs were added to the show this year.  'Miracles', which Russell sings and 'Can I Be Your Lover' which is Graham's solo. They are both outstanding songs and reminicent of the songs of a few years ago.  You are going to just love them.

I was lucky enough to get a copy of the song list from Sparky after the show so here it is:

1.  Now & Forever
2.  Shadow of the Sun/Sweet Dreams
3.  Even The Nights Are Better
4.  Here I Am
5.  Chances
6.  Someone
7.  Miracles
8.  Can I Be Your Lover
9.  Jonni's Solo
10. Jed's Solo
11. Yours Truly
12. Two Less Lonely People
13. The One That You Love
14. Lost In Love
15 .Every Woman In the World
16. Making Love Out of Nothing at All
17. All Out of Love
18. Goodnight

Yours Truly had to be cut because of casino restraints on the time allowed for the show.  Hopefully when the show comes to your city you will get to hear it.

When I said it was the most romantic night, here's one of the reasons;  After the first few songs, Russell asked if there was a David **** in the audience.  At first it was silent and Russell said, "there better be" and finally a young man said, "I'm here" and Russell asked him to come up on stage.  The chatted for a minute and then Russell  commented, "Isn't someone missing here?  Isn't there supposed to be someone else up here?  Someone by the name of Rebecca".  He then called Rebecca ****up on the stage and asked her if she new what this was all about.  She said, " I have some idea."   At that time Russell told David to assume the position.  Down on his knee David went and proceeded to ask Rebecca to marry him.  She, of course, said yes and by them the whole audience was in tears and gave them a big round of applause.  It was just so sweet and perfect for Air Supply on Valentine's Day.

Here is David proposing to Russell.  ( I took two pictures hoping Russell would move out of the way, but he never did.)  Remember to congratulate him on his engagment when you see him.

Graham and Russell sat on the edge of the stage for 'Two Less Lonely People' and then came out into the audience for 'The One That You Love'. ( I was at this time sitting in the front row.  Someone didn't show up and I wasted no time moving up.)   Russell walked straight up to me, took my hand, leaned over and gave me a kiss.  I think I was in shock.  Here was my idol giving me a kiss in front of the whole audience.  That is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.  I will carry it in my heart forever.

The audience really loved the guys circulating among them.  By the time they were back on stage they were both in great moods.  I stood up and started to applaud them.  Within seconds, the whole audience was up on their feet applauding.  It was fantastic.  The whole band was just eating it up and getting into an even better mood if that's possible.

They got a second standing ovation after 'Making Love Out of Nothing at All' and again after Goodnight.  The whole night was just so perfect.  Graham said at the meet and greet that they would definitely come back to MN next year.  WOO! HOO!  Do you think I'm happy or what?

There were just a ton of people at the Meet and Greet.  We waited til the end to go up because the secutity people weren't letting anyone behind the tables they had set up outside the theater entrance.  They had relaxed a bit by the time we went up, so we got to get our things signed and get some pictures taken with all the guys.  I got a hug and a kiss from each of the band members and two kisses and two hugs from Graham and Russell.

We are the luckiest people in the world.  These five guys are the sweetest and most sincere people I know.  They love their fans and show it in every way that they can.

The whole weekend was a dream come true for me.  And I can honestly say I may have turned two other people into Airheads.  They both had the best time and just loved the band and their music.  They couldn't believe they were actually getting to meet them and have their pictures taken with them.

Would you believe Sunday's show was even better then Saturdays?  The guys had gotten a good nights sleep and were in tip top form.
I wouldn't have believed it could get any better, but it did.  No, I didn't get another kiss from Russell, but he acknowledged me from the stage and Jonni waved at me.

If you see Adam wearing a 'Survivor' Buff, I gave it to Russell as a gift.  Survivor is his favorite show.  He thanked me for it and  then told me he had given it to Adam because Adam is an even bigger fan and would definitely wear it.  He didn't think he would.   I later talked to Adam and he was absolutely thrilled to get it.  In fact, He didn't take it off all weekend.  He even came down to breakfast with it on.  Of course, I had to have my picture taken with him wearing it.

I hope all of you get a chance to go to an Air Supply Concert at least once in your life.  It is something you will never forget.  They are the best band in the world and we are the luckiest people in the world for having them.

Love,

MotherSaid
