MotherSaid's Review:

Shooting Star Casino

Mahnomen, MN

February 12th, 13th, 2005

It had been 5 months since my last Air Supply concert, and I was suffering from huge withdrawals. I know this is unfair, since so many wait years to see them. I only wish all of you could have been there with me.

My daughter-in-law and I left on Saturday morning to clear blue skies and moderate temps for this time of year. The snow Gods were definitely on our side.

We arrived at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN around 3:00 p.m. We checked into our room and decided to look around and see if we could claim any of the Air Supply concert posters posted in the casino. We finally found the right person and gave them our names.....hoping they would come through for us in the end.

While we were wandering around we ran into Colin, Jonni, Mike, Adam & Russell (we also spotted Graham making his way across the parking lot to a shopping mall located next to the casino). I was able to speak briefly with all of them and found out they had missed their plane that morning and were just arriving. All of them looked exhausted but in good spirits. Unfortunately, their luggage and equipment had not yet arrived. We left them to get on with what they needed to do before the show and went to meet up with another Airhead and her husband. They had traveled from North Carolina for the shows and since it was their first show, they were so excited.

Because of the delay in getting their luggage, the show was also delayed. Luckily the equipment had arrived earlier, and they were able to get set up. We chose to take our seats early and wait. At 8:30 p.m., they announced the luggage had just arrived and the concert would start in 15 minutes. So, although 45 minutes late, we sat on the edge of our seats waiting for those first magical notes to let us know the show was beginning.

The lights dimmed and the show started with Russell singing "Remember Me" followed by "A Little Bit Of Everything". These are both new songs and so beautiful. You are all going to love hearing them for the first time. I hope they are included in the new studio CD planned for later this Spring.

Graham stepped forward to Greet everyone and to tell us that their lighting man was ill and he wanted to thank Sonny for filling in. Sonny had never seen the show, so it was not always smooth, but never did it interfere with the pleasure of seeing and hearing the FABS.

They went on to sing "Even The Nights Are Better"; "Here I Am"; "Chances"; "Faith in Love" ( Graham mentioned at the Meet & Greet that they may put this song on the official site for fans to download.); "Miracles"; "Why" (it was wonderful hearing Graham's version again.

Both versions are so beautiful); We then heard Jed, Jonni & Mike doing their solo....they are always so awesome; Next was a new version of Sweet Dreams proceeded by a poem called "River" by Graham. It was beautiful and added a wonderful new dimension to the show.

The rest of the song list consisted of some favorites...."The One That You Love", The audience always loves when Russell and Graham come out into the audience to sing this one. "Lost In Love"; "Every Woman In The World"; "Making Love Out of Nothing At All". This is the point in the show where you are allowed to rush the stage. Last year no one did, so this year I was determined that they would. I spread the word around to follow me at the appropriate time. That's all it took to get people on their feet and rushing to claim their spot. The FABS seem to like this time as much as the fans do. Introduction of the band and the bow proceeded their departure from the stage.

After a short time, and much chanting for more, the guys came back out to sing "All Out Of Love" and "Goodnight".

Sunday's show was even better, if that is possible. Sonny had gotten the lighting down and did a great job and people were really into the show. Both Meet & Greets were well attended and I got my usual number of things signed. This year I wanted to get Big Cat & Osborn signed to give to my granddaughter for Valentine's Day (she loved them). I did manage to get one of the big posters after Sunday's concert and all the guys signed it for me also.

It was another unforgettable weekend with the FABS. Their music is fabulous and I can never get enough I'm already starting to plan the next trip. Maybe I'll see you there.

Much Love,

MotherSaid
