Early Fan Days Stories . . .
By MA from Georgia:
A friend and I went to a show, way back in the early days. Can't remember the exact date. We just happened to be staying at the same hotel as the guys. I was up in my room getting unpacked when I got a call from downstairs. My friend had gone back out to the car to get her pillow. It was my friend calling, and she was all excited because she had run into Ralph Cooper, the drummer for AS back then.
She told me to grab my keys and come downstairs, that we were going to take Ralph to the mall....LOL I said, " Yeah, right." I thought she was kidding. She said, "No, I'm serious. Look out the window. You will see him sitting outside on the stoop reading a newspaper." I went to the window and there he sat, like she said. So I grabbed my keys and went downstairs.
I was so nervous. :) I got to meet Ralph, and we talked for a short time. And then . . . off to the mall we went. We let him out and told him that we would take him back to the hotel when he was ready to return. So we set up a time to meet, back at that same exact place.
We went our separate ways. My friend and I didn't really need anything at the mall, so we decided to go check out the music store; and who do we run into while in there? Yep, Ralph! I'm sure he thought we were following him. LOL But we weren't. So we head out of there and on too another store. Who do you think we ran into there? LOL Right again! So my friend and I decided to go back to our meeting spot, so we wouldn't run into him again. We didn't want him to really think we were following him. A little bit later he came up to us, and we took him back to the hotel. We told him we really weren't following him, and he just laughed.
When he got out at the hotel, we
saw that he had left his newspaper in my car. I think I still
have that paper around here somewhere....:) It was really a lot
of fun... and he was such a good sport to trust my driving. LOL
