Linda's Aurora
show review
November 4, 2006
Another great night has
come and gone. The day,
November 4, started early with a train ride to
Chicago, then a commuter train to Aurora. We had time
for dinner at a little tavern near the Paramount
Theater and while chatting with the owner, discovered
he was going to the show. Shortly after that
conversation, the music in the restaurant was all Air
Supply.
Making our way to the
theater, we found a close
parking spot on the street and joined the people
waiting for the doors to open. When we were in the
lobby I had the opportunity to meet other members of
the Now & Forever forum and it was great to talk face
to face. We took our seats about 15 minutes before the
show was scheduled to start. Brian and I were in Row
F on Graham's side, pretty good seats. The average age
of the audience appeared to be a bit older than
myself, let's just say many appeared to be enjoying
retirement. I wondered if it would be a quiet
crowd...and they were a bit slow starting but by the
end of the second song the place was rocking.
The songs were as follows.
Power of Love
Just As I Am
Even the Nights
Little Big of Everything
Here I Am
Chances
Faith in Love
I'll Find You (Graham's solo)
Live and Let Die (band solo)
Shadow of the Sun with Stinah
Two Less Lonely
One That You Love
Lost in Love
Every Woman in the World
Making Love
All Out of Love
Goodnight - I think they did this one because the
crowed was so enthusiastic. They seemed to talk it
over, then decide to do it. They actually asked the
audience if they wanted one more.
The guys all looked great
and seemed to be having a
lot of fun. When Russell messed up the lyrics on one
of the songs (wish I could remember which one, I think
it was Every Woman in the World) he and Graham both
cracked up. When Russell went to change, Graham
announced that Russell was going to have a cup of tea
so he could hit the high notes later. Then he added "I
think it's bull---t! He just wants a cup of tea", and
then the audience cracked up. They all sounded
fantastic. I think I was able to sit back and enjoy
this show a bit more than the first one I saw. I was
so afraid of missing something the first time.
Russell's voice continues to amaze me. When he went
into the audience he ended up near my daughters (they
were sitting about halfway back)and sat down right
behind them. I can't say they've become Airheads, but
both of them are musicians and singers, and they
couldn't praise his voice enough.
I had decided that when
it came time to rush the stage
we'd just stay in our seats since we were in the
middle and it was unlikely the senior citizens between
us and the aisle were going to move. That resolve
vanished as soon as Brian and I heard the first notes
of Making Love. We trampled six sets of feet making
our way out of the row. Once again, others moved aside
to let Brian get right up to the stage. At one point,
Graham came over to him and clasped Brian's hand while
still singing.
There was a long line
for the meet and greet and we
were near the back which was OK. It gave us a chance
to chat with other Airheads. As we got close, we could
hear security telling people to put away their
cameras. Management had decided that pictures took too
much time. When Graham saw Brian he pulled him in for
a hug and asked him "How have you been?" then signed
an album Love always to my special friend, from
Graham. I moved in right away and Graham signed my
Heart of the Rose CD. Meanwhile Russell grabbed Brian
and gave him a big hug. Then he signed the album,
commenting that it was older than Brian. He asked if I
had a camera and I told him yes, but security said
absolutely no pictures. Russell said, "Get your
camera!" put his arm around Brian and called Graham
over, too. I thanked Russell for making Brian feel
special and he pulled me in for a hug and a kiss on
the cheek! He then signed the Asian CD cover that
Graham signed at Rama, remarking that he'd never seen
it before. Brian said hi to Jonni and Jed, got
autographs, and then had Mike sign drumsticks he had
brought with him. Mike signed my Asian CD, also
remarking he'd never seen it. That one is definitely
going in a frame or shadow box now that all of them
have signed it. Then we were out the door. Oops, I
almost forgot to mention that Brian also got one of
Graham's guitar picks off the stage.
Graham asked Brian when
he was coming to see him again
and Brian told him "in two weeks we will be going to
the show in Indiana." Such great music, such nice
people...
