Bertie Higgins and his Band of Pirates!

Ahoy Maity! We're lucky enough to live one town over from where Bertie Higgins grew up, became famous and still visits part of the year. He has moved recently to California, to be in the midst of the music world there, but he still retains a home in Tarpon Springs, FL. Of course, he's gone a lot - touring and performing around the world. However, now and then he's back around the area, and we can catch a show. And let me tell you, its quite a show. With Bertie's wonderful voice; the band's talent, costumes and antics; plus some great musicianship and backup voices - you just can't help but enjoy every minute.

From the days singing with his family as a kid growing up, to the #1 hit, "Key Largo", to the show he puts on currently - Bertie is as good as he ever was, even better. Plus, he has a lot more songs and albums to his credit now. He writes most all of them too. He is one of the long-term artists, still writing, singing, recording and entertaining today. Lucky for us!

Bertie also has been known to help out the vocal music department of the high school in his town of Tarpon Springs, FL. He is also involved with the Seabird Sanctuary in our county, an extremely worthwhile cause. Bertie was at Sunset Beach, Tarpon Springs, September 13th for a big event - - the relighting the Anclote Key Lighthouse. He's been involved in this important project for a long time. Thanks, Bertie, for all you do!

Labor Day weekend 2007 . . . Hope you watched the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, Labor Day.
Bertie Higgins appeared at approximately 6:30 a.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time, U.S.)
It was on the "love" network, the name given to the 190 stations nationwide who support the telethon.
Everyone can go to  http://www.mda.org and there is an access to the station listing in all states at the bottom of the opening page.
We have learned that all cable companies could air the entire telethon on ABC.
However, WGN (out of Chicago) did air the entire program.
I saw this and it was great and Bertie a song new to us, "The Flags' on Fire". It is amazing!

They also just finished up a show in Montreal, Canada,, joining Roberta Flac on stage.

Live concerts & stuff coming up:

They've finished their second film, have started a new CD.

They've been booked in China to perform in a concert for World Peace. It will be in the Great Hall in Tianenmen Square,
and they were invited to this event by the Chinese government.

 Spring:
